Ann hails from North Syracuse, New York, where she studied both piano and flute, performing the Mozart Flute Concerto in D with the Syracuse Symphony as a high school senior.  She received her BM in Piano from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam, where she conceived a love for choral directing under the guidance of Professor Brock McElheran. Ann taught introductory conducting at the Saratoga-Potsdam Choral Institute, singing in the chorus that performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra in the summers. Ann received a MM in choral conducting from Southern Methodist University, under the tutelage of Lloyd Pfautsch. She then taught junior-senior high school in Cortland, New York, and directed the Women's Choir at the University of Texas at Austin, while pursuing a doctorate in choral conducting under the direction of Dr. Morris Beachy.

Ann met the Rev. Sathi Bunyan at SMU, and two years later they married in India. They moved from Austin when he received a call to a church in Denver. They also spent 3½ years in Colorado Springs at Chapel of Our Saviour where Ann led a youth choir, and directed the choir at Fountain Valley High School. They moved to Loveland in 1982 when Sathi received a call to All Saints' Episcopal Church. Ann was Music Director at All Saints Episcopal Church, Loveland from 1982-2010 when they both retired. She directed adult, youth, children and Bell choirs in addition to playing the organ. She was a longtime member and secretary of LAMTA (Loveland Area Music Teachers Association) and served as both accompanist and guest conductor for the Loveland Choral Society. They have three children.

Ann founded the Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers in 1988, and has directed the group ever since, except for a brief sabbatical from 2000-2002. She has greatly enjoyed the experience, and believes that the quality of the group has increased over the years, as more and more members have music degrees and work professionally in the music field. Ann is known for her varied concert selections ranging from the Renaissance Period to the modern, including light jazz and pop styles. She has always offered an eclectic program, knowing that various styles speak to different people, but she always emphasizes musicality, diction, dynamics, and excellence in performance.

The Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers is now in their thirty-first year of singing quality a cappella music. It is a great pleasure for Ann to
stand in front, directing these wonderful musicians!
